Charles Truax
Owner & Operator
The Story
Truax Land Clearing is owner-operated, which means every project gets my personal attention from start to finish. I'm not farming it out to a crew of subcontractors or managing multiple jobs at once. When you hire us, you get me.
I grew up in Northeast Wisconsin, surrounded by woods and farmland. I understand the land here because I've worked it, hunted it, and watched it change over the years. When I take on your project, I treat your property the way I'd treat my own. With care, precision, and respect.
No sales reps. No middlemen. Just direct communication and honest work. When you call, you speak to me. When the work starts, I'm the one in the seat.
The "Why"
In 2022 it started as a "honey-do" list of clearing a 1 acre spot of land for an animal pen. No problem, I can do that in a weekend... right?
Wrong. Six weekends, a dozen chains for the chainsaw, two pairs of gloves, and a ton of stress later it was finally done. When the idea was floated of a SECOND spot to clear out I decided to just hire someone. I got quotes from tree clearing services and it was 10k-15k depending on who I spoke with. There had to be a better way.
I found out about this thing called "forestry mulching" and I was hooked. It started as a personal task and quickly became a passion, I met with so many other guys like me with land they owned but couldn't actually USE. Helping them put their land to actual use rather than being something to sell and retire on has been one of the biggest pride points in my life.
This isn't just a job to me. It's about helping landowners see what their property can become and giving them the tools to make it happen. I take pride in delivering results that last.
Our Gear
CAT Skid Steer with High-Flow Forestry Mulcher
This isn't a rental from the hardware store. Our Cat 275 XE Forestry Edition is a high-flow forestry head that eats overgrowth for breakfast. It's designed for serious land clearing: grinding stumps, brush, and saplings into nutrient-rich mulch that stays on your property.
- •Handles dense brush, invasive species, and hardwood trees up to 8" diameter
- •Leaves a clean, walkable surface with no burn piles or hauling
- •Low ground pressure to minimize soil compaction and rutting
This is professional-grade equipment built for demanding Wisconsin terrain. When you see it work, you'll understand the difference between real forestry mulching and someone with a brush hog.
