Seasonal Updates: Road Bans & Spring Thaw
Professional land clearing means planning around Wisconsin's seasonal restrictions. Here's how we work with you year-round.
Winter Advantage
Frozen ground allows access to wet areas and prevents soil damage
Road Ban Season
March-April weight restrictions on county roads
Year-Round Service
We schedule projects to comply with all local regulations
Understanding Wisconsin Road Bans
Every spring (typically March 1 - May 1), Marinette, Oconto, and Brown Counties implement weight restrictions on local roads. This protects road surfaces as frost leaves the ground and softens the base.
What this means for land clearing: We cannot transport heavy equipment on restricted routes during this period. However, we plan ahead to either complete projects before restrictions begin or wait until roads are reopened.
Why Winter Clearing is Ideal
- Frozen ground access: Reach areas that are too wet in summer months
- Invasive species visibility: Buckthorn stays green late, making it easy to identify and target
- No soil damage: Frozen conditions prevent rutting and compaction
- Minimal vegetation stress: Clearing in dormancy reduces regrowth impact
- Wildlife consideration: Before nesting season begins
Planning Your Project
We work with you to find the best timing for your land clearing project:
- Fall/Winter (Sept-Feb): Best conditions for most projects
- Spring (May-June): Post-ban season, excellent for hunting land prep
- Summer (July-Aug): Food plot establishment and fence line work
- Late Summer (Aug-Sept): Pre-hunting season shooting lane clearing
